Rejection of Rescue Novel

I just received a rejection of my Rescue Novel from Boroughs Publishing Group.  They promised a reply in sixteen weeks.  When they went beyond that goal for a reply I emailed them reminding them of how long it had been since my submission.  A few or more days later they sent me the rejection email.  I have finally come to realize that, especially at my age, the only route to go for a novel submission is not to go to a publisher but do it the self-publishing route via KDP.  I did a lot of research on this novel and also got two beta readers to go over the novel.  I incorporated their suggestions into the final version of the novel.  Their suggestions were very good so the novel is now well polished.
I plan to self-publish via KDP hopefully after the first of the year assuming my health is better.  I will employ a cover artist, probably the same one who did my last novel, and when the formatting is complete I will take out an expensive ad in my RWR magazine, probably a full page ad.  Depending on the results of that this may be my swan song for writing other than the Mary Magdalene story I am presently working on.  The RWR magazine is Romance Writers Report a publication of RWA, Romance Writers of America which will reach over 10,000 readers, authors, editors and agents.

Self-Published and my accident

I am still seeking for a publisher for my rescue novel.  I've decided to name the novel Rescuing Clay.  I never can come up with clever titles that many  authors give their novels.  The rescue novel numbers 91,000 words.  If I can't rope a publisher I will self-publish and plan to take out an expensive ad in RWR magazine, a publication of RWA of which I am a member.  RWR stands for Romance Writers Report and RWA stands for Romance Writers of America.  RWR has a circulation of over 10,000 writers, romance readers, agents, editors and publishers.  This novel may be the last one I write for the reason I will list in the next paragraph.
On June 11 I was hit by a car while jogging.  The car was stopped at an intersection waiting for traffic to clear and didn't see me as I crossed the intersection in front of the car.  The driver pulled out, hit me and I went down and was dragged a short distance before the vehicle stopped.  I was very lucky to survive as the front right wheel was just inches from my head when it stopped.  I spent 13 days in the hospital from multiple cuts, bruises and scrapes all over my body.  My right hand was cut deeply down to the tendon between my little finger and ring finger on the top of my hand.  Cellulitis set in and infection.  I finally had surgery and now closing in on four months it is infection free and will heal by end of October.  My fingers are still swollen and my little finger is sore and I can't type or write very well. I certainly can't hit the "p" key while typing.  Therefore I can't pursue any writing.  No broken bones but ligaments in my shoulders are awry.  I have some non accident problems such as needing a pacemaker and kidney tumors, one large in my right kidney which must be removed and the small one in my left kidney is a low grade cancer.  I have a large hematoma  on my right leg near the groin which must be drained too.  So that is my story of non related writing.

Rescue novel query out there

I have been terribly remiss about posting.  Probably why I don't get any comments.  My Rescue novel which is entitled A Reason for Rescue is out there in query form at Soul Mate Publishing.  They say a reply of some sort will be coming in four weeks.  I like that as others usually take a year if not at all.  At my age I can't afford to wait that long for a reply.  Four weeks is around the corner.  If it is negative then I'll likely go self-publishing route again.  Agents and publishers take too long to respond, at least most of them.
This story is clean romance with a lot of adventure in it.  Also, there is an old prophetess who tells Julianne when and where Clay will need saving.  The reason is for Clay to travel the world healing people with extracts from flowers and plants from the local areas.  Julianne is an international ambassador bringing world wide peace with her silver tongue.  Clay's degree is in  biochemistry and Julianne's degree is in international relations.  Details of Clay's trips are given for Alaska, Pakistan, Australia and Nikumororo Island (formerly Gardner Island) where Amelia Earhart may have crash landed in 1937.  Brief mention is made of China and Ural Mountains in Russia as well.  This novel is 89,000 words long.  It will probably be my last one as none of my efforts have netted many sales.
